Prize winning technology
Firebreather inventor Geir Jensen's 6 years of specific and groundbreaking research on passive fire blocking devices has cought the eye of architects and fire safety consultant engineers - not to mention prize juries.
Grand Slam: Securo's CEO Eivind Elnan and CTO Geir Jensen received the first prize in all three prize categories when the Norwegian "Oscar of entrepreneurship" was rewarded at the gathering Innovator at NTNU in Trondheim in May 2007. Securo won a total of USD 150.000 in prize money for the company's revolutionary passive vent design that solves the long lasting dilemma of providing ventilation and fire spread protection at the same time. Securo was placed at the head of the list in the "Start Up 2007" competition (awarded by the regional bank Sparebank1 Midt-Norge) as well as the regional "Venture Cup" contest, and finally Securo was awarded 1st prize in the reputable "Take Off" (Norwegian text) finals.
Prestigious national award: In September 2007 Securo also won the 1st prize and USD 40.000 in "Venture Cup Norway 2007", an open business plan competition, which assists and encourages innovators to take their business idea from concept to actual startup. Venture Cup competitions are held in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. McKinsey&Company Inc. has launched many business plan competitions throughout the world. In the Nordic countries, McKinsey&Company initiated business plan competitions operate under the name Venture Cup and share the same brand and concept.
Five out of six: Securo won it's fifth award of the year when the Norwegian bank DnB NOR named Firebreather by Securo regional winner of "Innovation Prize 2007" and another USD 20.000,-. By winning the regional competition Securo became qualified for the national finals (Norwegian text) held in Oslo in December, were Dr. Einar Sudman deservedly took home the grand prize.
